There are Sikhs from all over the world engaging in talents, hobbies, and interests that just don't get recognized as much as they should. We try to get one of these Sikhs to connect to our audience every month through a live video on our instagram feed!

JUNE 2021

Darshleen Kaur

Darshleen Kaur, professionally and poetically known as Kaurzeye, is a poet, author, and activist. She published her debut collection of poetry called ‘love yourself more’ when she was 18. Darshleen started writing poetry after experience grief and loss as a young teenager. She is a college student and is currently studying Business and Political Science in college. She has been involved with Kirtan and Paath at the local Gurudwaras in Georgia from a young age, and has always found peace while listening to Kirtan and reading Maharaj’s Hukam. Darshleen has used her experiences to grow and create a stronger connection with Waheguru.

Harjap Singh

Harjaap Singh is a 16-year-old studying at Herschel Grammar School in the UK. He's always been one to question, think and learn, especially when it comes to Sikhi and the role it plays in his life. His experience in public speaking and filmmaking has allowed him to share his spiritual journey in a way that inspires the younger tech-savvy generation of today. His goal in being part of the SikhTeens Sangat is to surround himself with positive like-minded people for a collective, in-depth venture into what Sikhi means for teenagers today

MAY 2021

Prabhleen Kaur

Prabhleen Kaur is a junior at Washington High School in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a basketball player, crossfit athlete, and passionate advocate for women’s sports. As a female athlete herself, and growing up watching sports, Prabhleen hopes to create more opportunities for young girls to participate in sports and also wants professional female athletes to be given the recognition they deserve. Since last year, she has been interviewing and researching leaders in women's sports for her upcoming book, She Plays to Win, which will be published by New Degree Press this August. In her free time, Prabhleen enjoys cheering on her favorite sports teams with her friends and family and volunteering with her local Sikh community.

MARCH 2021

Diya & Himani Vaid

Diya and Himani Vaid are from New Jersey and have a passion for drawing and expressing their feelings through artwork. They are the founders of @_punjabigirlsdraw_, an art page aiming to raise awareness about societal issues, promoting the Sikh faith, and educating today’s society about the Punjabi culture. They are currently creating content that is both meaningful and thought-provoking. They draw to fuel their creativity, bring their imagination to life, and make work that resonates with others. With their artwork, they hope to create a space for everyone to learn about and interact with, not only the Punjabi culture, but with several beautiful cultures from around the world.

FEBURARY 2021

Makheer

 Singh

Makheer Singh is a 15-year-old Taus/Dilruba player and an upcoming producer from LA, California. Leaning from many Indian Classical and Gurmat Sangeet artists, Makheer implements the rhythmic and improvisational patterns of Indian Classical music into his music. Having a deep passion for Indian classical and hip hop music. Makheer has produced tracks where the sounds of hip hop and Indian classical music unite/ He continues to learn and acquire guidance from Raaginder Singh Momi in Indian classical music as well as Harlove Singh in Gurmat Sangeet/Indian Classical vocal music, while also releasing music to inspire young Sikh kids to follow their passions at an early age

JANUARY 2021

Andrew Singh

Andrew Singh is a 30 year old truck driver. Sikhi found him during the lowest times of his life. He had recently had to end his business due to COVID-19. HE is married to a wonderful supportive wide and 6 year old daughter. When he is not working, he is passionate about Sikhi and playing on his computer.
